Cravings and Overdoing it

I have not been doing too well this holiday season and feel pretty gross! It started with Christmas eve, I hate that feeling of fullness when you just eat too much and feel very uncomfortable. Something didn't sit well with me and for the next 2-3 days I was just bloated and didn't want to eat anything but toast and butter, or pasta and butter. For the past few weeks, I've been anti veggies. I can do potatoes, california mashers, and tomatoes but broccoli, spinach and anything I overate at Thanksgiving, I cannot handle. I had this experience in college with marinated mushrooms - I would eat them all the time. Finally, I could not look at them anymore. That is how I feel right now about broccoli, spinach and most vegetables. I could eat toast for breakfast lunch and dinner, and I'm totally into cheese, and could eat pizza everyday (but haven't had it since that time a couple weeks ago when that was all I wanted).

Luckily, I've been running and doing good with the workouts, especially here for the last week of the HBBC! But I wish I could get the fruits and veggies back up!

Other than that, I'm keeping busy planning Nick's birthday (airplane theme) and taking pictures with my new camera! For a first birthday, did you give/get favors?

My sister took me to a place in town called SPRINKLES... DEADLY!
You get a HUGE cup (they are oversized as part of the ploy) and fill your own soft serve (around 12 flavors) then get your own toppings (39 of them to choose from) and then weigh it and pay 40 cents an ounce. For both of ours it was $11 ! For Ice cream! The good thing is it is actually soft serve froyo so half cup ranged from around 100-120 calories. Here's some pictures below:

my mix: cake batter and chocolate and vanilla w/ oreos, reeses, cookie dough

  1. My son's first birthday party was more a party for grown-ups than for kids. We invited friends who had been part of Jack's first year. So no favors, but we did serve a whole lot more booze than if it had been a kid party!

The best kid party favor we've ever received was from Jack's friend Ethan's second birthday. Ethan's mom bought a bunch of those big bouncy balls that come in the giant bin at Target. She wrote each kid's name on their ball. Baby Jack loved it, and in fact, we still have and play with it now.

  4. umm, okay, now I need to go to this 'Sprinkles' place. Where is it? I'll have to proposition Dave- ha.

Love the ball idea for 1st birthday! Luke is obsessed with his Target ball- it's his favorite toy! We didn't really do favors for either kid, just had those mini goldfish and juice boxes for the other little ones, and a little book from the Target dollar bin.

  7. OMG, that place looks incredible.

I hear you on the overdoing it, though. I feel like I have been on a bunge for a week and it is really catching up with me. UGH.

  8. The yogurt looks yummy! For both of my kids' birthdays we gave out party favors of little things like bubbles, fruit snacks, crayons, and other various little toys.

  10. Was that the Sprinkles by Penn? I was there a few weeks ago with a friend - so good! But yeah, definitely not cheap - I'm just glad I don't live closer :)

  11. Sprinkles may be dangerous, but not as bad as Cold Stone Cremery. And I like the idea that you can do your own toppings (and take personal responsibility for how heavy your hand is).

Holidays are tough on good eating habits. So far I've been able to avoid eating ANY cookies this year because I literally cannot eat just one. I just have to get past New Year's Eve and I'll have made it. Maybe if I keep my fingers crossed I won't be able to pick the first one up...

  14. This is very strange since I live in Japan and we just got a "yogurtland". As I was reading your post it sounded similar until I saw the last pic of the machines on the wall and even the fruit images in the corner of the shop...it's the same! So when you're munching your yogurt thinking of all those miles you're reversing, I'm right there with ya!
