3 seconds that could have made me feel better

I finished in 1:20:02 today. My goals (in my head) were 1:15:00 - that was it. I think I put too much pressure on myself for that and was nervous at the start and this morning.  If my sister was there with me, I think it would have lightened the load - like at the last race. But she's at Big Sur hopefully running well!  My B goal was PR (under 1:18:54) and C goal was sub 1:20:00.

1:20:02/10 miles/8:00 pace

Blah. My legs felt great, but my stomach did not agree with me, and overall I felt like I wasn't in the shape to hold 7:30 pace. I'll write up more later!

  1. Ugh, I'm sorry Nat. It's understandable and completely okay to feel frustrated. Don't let it overshadow a great race though.

I was sooo pissed when I finished a half marathon last year in 1:40 on.the.dot. Seriously, I couldn't have finished one millisecond faster to be a sub-1:40 runner? I spent the entire next year hell-bent on beating that time.

Just think about the thousands of people behind you who wish they ran that fast today. Let this fire you up through your next training cycle. You've got the 2:15 in you.

  4. You did a great race - tummy troubles are the most frustrating as I always feel that if my legs are fine I could run harder, but no, no, no - not poss - you did your best. WELL DONE! Rest up now!

  6. I think that's pretty dang fast! Congrats on running a strong race, even if you didn't meet your top-tier goals.
