Pick a question to answer:
1 - What is on your reading list for this summer (doesn't have to be running related)?

pick me pick me!!!
my news years resolution for 2010 is to read 1 book a month. so far i'm right on track! i am on my 6th book of the year! i'm currently reading Great Races Amazing Places, its a good book but very poorly written, i keep having to re-read sentences bc i have no idea what she is talking about. Next up is Believe It Be It, by Ali Vincent. I have SOO many running books that i am waiting to read. my book shelf is full! i will probably read Once a Runner after that.
ReplyDeletewhat about Ryan for a boy's name and Bethany for a girl's name. I love my name, if it wasn't my name i would name my daughter that someday, if i ever have a daughter.
ReplyDeleteok, being serious now, what about Natalie for a girl. I think Joshua goes well with Nick. i just asked Ryan for a good boy's name and he said "Barry or Gary," LOL. and for a girl he said "Henrietta or Shawnda." oh boy, we should discuss baby names BEFORE we get married...
ps- when his mom was pregnant with his brother, ryan wanted them to name the baby Eggbert.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Lucas for a boy and Abigail for a girl.
ReplyDeleteI am a Dresden Files fan and have several to catch up on. Its a SciFi wizard in Chicago series!
ReplyDeleteI am also reading Run Like a Mother for a blog review as well as Barefoot Running by Michael Sandler.
As for my reading list ... I really want to finish the Outlander series. I devoured the first four books and got distracted halfway through the fifth, but I loved them so I know I'll end up going back to them as soon as I get the time.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any name ideas, especially for Nick combos, but PLEASE don't make it closely confusing to "Nick." I have a friend, Taylor, who's brother's name is Tyler. In 4th grade, I rode the bus with twins, Candince, and wait for it....Brandice!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I both have R names and I think that's not too much. (I was about to suggest "Natalie" for a good N name for a girl, but then I remembered that's already taken!)
I'm reading Born to Run and it's a great read just in itself as well as a good running read. I talked about it in a post earlier this week.
I like the name Amelia for a girl. Amelia Earhart had moxie! You could call her Lia and that would go well with Nick.
ReplyDeleteI like the name Leo for a boy!
Not getting to read much lately, but my next is going to be French Women Don't Get Fat. I've heard great things about it and would love to see what kind of recipes she has.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to finish all the Harry Potter books. I'm a little behind the trend. lol
ReplyDeleteI think James is a cute boy name and for a girl I'd say Joy. I've always liked Joy. :)
ReplyDeleteThe 3rd installment of the Hunger Games is on my August reading list!
ReplyDeletenames:
Brogan for a boy, Ellie for girl (no idea, I was horrible at coming up with names)

ReplyDeleteSummer? When is summer? I have no time to think about it yet! But I want to read the Ultimate Runner, and Marathon Man...both look really good!
I plan on reading Eat, Pray, Love, The Help, The American Wife. I think those will take all summer since Memoirs of a Geisha just took me about 2 months to read :-).
ReplyDeleteAs far as names...I'm stuck, too. But my fave boy name is Joshua but can't use it. Fave girl name is Emily and can't use that one either. I also like Makenna and that's still a possibility.
I am reading "Plan B" by Pete Wilson right now. I suggest reading "Water for Elephants" (I just finished it - fab). And I plan on reading "Mockingjay" (the third installment of the Hunger Games trilogy) later this summer. :D
ReplyDeleteBoy name: Evan. Girl name: Evie (pronounced EV) or Catherine.
I would like to read the Hunger Games just to see what all the buzz is about. As far as names: Alexander and Delaney.

Ooooh I like the new look here! Oh and I plan to read Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout, it won the fiction cateogory for 2009 Pulitzer. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh and I don't think I want to run the full Nike Marathon because the last half is such a crappy course. It's hard.......... But dang, I might one day. I can't say no to a marathon. Haha. Omg, I can't believe Nicholas is 15 months old?!?!?! ALREADY????
I'm a grad student, and I do a lot of reading for school, but this summer I'm so excited to read for ME! I picked up some books today from the library -- two were running related, and the other two were Jodi Picoult novels! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have time to think about reading right now ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow about Madelyn (Nick & Maddy) or Andrew (Drew)?
I plan to catch up on my Jodi Picoult books...she has come out with 2 while I have been getting my degree and so I need to catch up...I just love her to death! Plus "Born to Run".
ReplyDeleteEllie is cute...or Sophia...

i also love Tess for a girl for some reason. gosh thinking of baby names is fun!! i wonder if i can get a job as a baby-namer, lol
I don't generally plan ahead what I will be reading. But I will probably be reading BioPlastics as part of my research for my plastics blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the name Nathan for a boy.

ReplyDeleteI like Nathaniel for a boy, Nate for short and Natasha or Natalya for a girl.
ReplyDeleteWhat is on your reading list for this summer (doesn't have to be running related)?
ReplyDeleteI plan on getting through "The Help", but that's really all I have on my do-to list at the moment, although there will be books added to my library in the summer regardless!
As for names, Alice popped into my head, but I don't know why. My boyfriend says he wants to name our first born Gus, or if it's a girl, Gussy-Ann... whew boy...
I'll be reading Diane Ravitch's The Death and Life of the Great American School System -- obviously, no trips planned to the beach for me this summer! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for baby names, have you looked at the trends on The Baby Name Wizard?
http://www.babynamewizard.com
You can decide to buck the trends or go with them, but at least you'll have an idea of how unique his or her name will be.
Yep, subscribed to the Philadelphia Running Examiner (maybe for the second time).
I will be reading all four of the Spellman series of books - funny mysteries set in San Francisco. Author is Lisa Lutz - love her!
ReplyDeleteFor a girl you can have my baby name as my sons are 23 and 20 and I'm liking the empty nest...Allison. Nick and Allie - how cute!
For a boy, I like Jake.
Oh, and I'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to get through Chris Brogan's Social Media 101 and The Ultimate Runner, even if I don't win it!
ReplyDeleteI am going to be reading Grapes of Wrath. I start it every few years, but never finish.
ReplyDeleteI think you are having a boy, so if you are going for alliteration I think Noah would be good. I also think something like Clark or Zack would be cute with Nick.
I plan to read as much as possible this summer!! I love to read outside in the sun! I don't have a reading list per se. I simply go to the bookstore or library and grab whatever suits my mood at the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but the first name that came to mind was Nora. Yikes. Too many movies for me :) I love the name Ellie for a little girl and Spencer for a boy.
ReplyDeleteI am a happy new subscriber to your articles. Yay!
