Docta Docta give me the news...

Doctor appointment today. I get so nervous everytime because I know that I am still keeping up my fitness to a close to normal level, just running slower. And since I can't feel anything yet, I get nervous that when I get there, they won't find a heartbeat! But everything was good. He said I can keep running and just be smart - don't be out of breath, etc. I'm ready to sign up for a marathon now! Haha. Now that wouldn't be worth it since my speed would be so much slower than normal, so why waste a marathon right? But I'll keep running races.

I've gained 8 pounds in 18+ weeks but I feel like I just became a fatty in the last 2 weeks. And I've become exhausted in the last 2 weeks. I think the kiddie is starting to grow and take some energy from me! This is the first time I've really felt super tired. I could also be getting a cold.

Any other pregnant bloggers where were you around 18-19 weeks in terms of weight gain? I had to ask the dr to make sure that I was not gaining extra weight and he said everything was on track. It is kind of hard when you realize you look like a puffball in all of your clothes and like you are trying to fit into things that are too small. I haven't found any fashionable maternity clothes - is there such a thing?

I will continue to run until it doesn't feel good - hopefully that will be around late Feb when the babe is ready to arrive! Otherwise I worry about my piece of mind - and for all of those around me!

Today - easy recovery run - sore knees. 6.5 miles/1:02:00/9:33 pace. I plan to swim twice tomorrow & Friday, do some more yoga and running, and I'm considering a race this weekend. I don't think the 18 miler but maybe another 1/2. Enjoy the cooler weather!

  1. One of my friends ran into month 7, but than she had to switch to fast walking. It just got uncomfortable.

Glad to hear all went well at the doctors. That is always a relief.

  2. it's so good that you're monitoring your run with your doctor! I'm sure the running is good for you and good for the doctor! Gaining 8 lbs is not much... you have to remember all that water and baby inside! You're doing great. Seriously. Can you save these posts so that I can refer to them when I get prego? (Which won't be at least another year??!!)

  3. Btw, it's really neat to follow your prego running blog... My sister is 11 weeks pregnant and my best friend is about 17 weeks, too. They don't blog and they don't run. So reading yours is the next best thing. ;-)

  6. I can't remember how much I'd gained at 19 weeks? Probably at least 10 lbs, but I was at my lowest weight in years when I found out I was pregnant, so 10 lbs wasn't crazy on me. I was gonna tell you too, and I don't know if you'll experience the same thing, but right around 19-22 weeks I would feel like I couldn't exercise for more than about 45 minutes without taking in some carbs of some sort... normally I could exercise for like 2 hours without any, but I think baby was taking up my extra glucose so I just found I needed a few more calories earlier on in the workout. That seems to have passed though now.

  7. YAY! I'm so glad everything went well at the Dr!!! I'm so happy for you.

I was running on Forbidden Drive a few weeks back and saw a pregnant lady that looked like she was ready to POP. Her belly was HUGE! But she looked like she was in great shape. And while she wasn't running fast, she WAS plugging along. She must have been almost 9 months.

So there is hope for you! I think more than anything it will help you mentally as you move along too.

Good luck on your race. And with the knees! My achilles is hurting again now. Ugh!

  9. yay for peace of mind...keep running! what i'm finding out about everything - running, weight gain - is that it's never always the same. i might gain a ton for 2 weeks, then nothing or even go back down for 2 weeks. it all evens out. if your fitness is the same and you're eating the same, don't worry about the weight...and 8 pounds isn't much (i think i was around 5-6 at 18 weeks). we're just so used to thinking weight gain - fat gain...not true here!! i'm still wearing pre-preg jeans (of course the belly doesn't fit, but...) and my butt and thighs are the same, so that's my gauge!

  10. At 18 weeks, I had gained about 8 pounds as well. At 20 weeks I was right at 10. At 34+ weeks (the last time I was weighed), I was at 20 pounds. So, I've gained more in the 2nd half than the first. Just try not to worry about it. You are going to gain, but you are healthy and active. Your body does what it needs to to make sure your little one is growing as it should!

  11. ROFLMAO well considering that I gained 75 lbs with both kids and LMAO at the scale every time I stepped on. Seriously I did not give a sheet. I was pregnant and no one was going to tell me anything about food HAHA. I was probably up 20-30?!? I do not recommend this, but what I'm saying is that don't SWEAT IT! You're on the right track ;-)

  12. Great stuff! So glad to hear you and the baby are A-OK! I didn't gain any weight while my wife was pregnant, though I talked a lot about putting on "sympathy" pounds...

  15. I have no advice for you but I am so excited and proud of you and your running! I can't believe you are managing the mileage and pace while pregnant. You are amazing. I know everyone is slightly different but I'm sure you're fine. Keep up the good work and keep the updates coming, I love following this!! :)

  16. Um, again, you are amazing, and gaining that little weight is nothing to be worried about! Esspecially when you have a baby growing inside you. :) It reminds me of the movie knocked up and when the asian girlfriend says, "Don't you get mad at the little baby, stealing all your food!" I would! :)
