6 miles :), getting out, time suck

This is quick - first, the computer is my time suck. If I didn't have it, I might get alot more done! :) I haven't been commenting as often or reading blogs, but I try to catch up when I can.

The first 2 days this week we've made it out! It's been pretty good. Yesterday the morning was a bit of a disaster - Nick fell down the steps for the first time... he's ok!  But it was all uphill from there.  Above Nick helping push the stroller around this morning.  I love the boy so much, he melts my heart!

I got in 6 miles, my longest run yet - today! It took an hour and 4 minutes on the dot. I think I can do the half marathon in about 8 weeks under 2 hours - that's my goal. Keep on running!  Any suggestions for building my speed back up? So far, I'm just trying to run longer and stay on my feet longer so that I am ready for the 1/2, but I'm still huffing and puffing as far as speed goes.  Yesterday when we went out, the stores weren't open yet so I ran w/ the double jogger around the huge parking lot of the strip mall I was at for about 15 minutes.  I love the dualie!!

And last, a waffle maker? I have a gift card to redeem with CSN stores and I can't decide what to get.  Waffles would be fun - but just another appliance?

  1. I like my waffle maker a lot. It's true that I only use it about once a month, but part of that is that I only cook breakfast on the weekends. (With the kiddos, you might get more use out of it.)

One of the benefits is that it's just as good as pancakes - but easier. You don't have to pay as much attention to them - just put the batter in and wait until the light turns green! (If it were me personally, I'd go for the ice cream maker.)

And if you - or any of your readers - want a chance to win another g.c. to CSN stores - I'm having a giveaway on my blog right now! Check it out:

I really really really really want a vitamix - do you have one already? I would put it towards that if you don't. I hardly ever use my waffle maker :( Which reminds me...

  3. I hear you. I have a million things I should be doing RIGHT NOW instead of dorking around on the interwebs.

PS - did you know Ocean City has a brand new half marathon in October?

  14. Way to go with the 6 miles! I'm impressed (and jealous)!! :-)

I saw someone wrote about getting an ice cream maker; that's what I want right now :-). I see so many recipes for ice cream and I just want to make them all. But I do love my waffle maker :-). And you can always make cookies, with it too :-)

  15. Well done you on the 6 miles -I'll reiterate what Billie said: I'm impressed (and jealous)!! - I was chuffed to get a 2.5 mile walk on Monday and 30 minutes pilates yesterday. Things are getting better bit by bit. I've been getting out and about everyday as it feels great to get out.

Love the pic of Nic helping with the buggy - met with my friend today who has a 3 year old and 9 month old and he is such a wee helper too.

Hope the running continues to progress,

    Kaz.

  17. 6 miles so soon! impressive.

we have a waffle maker. normally appliances like that are pointless to me but josh (hubs) loves his waffles and he makes them fairly regularly on the weekends. so, it's used here, and we certainly don't have cabinet space for it! i would think waffles would be fun for the kids, once they get a little older of course. fun fruity toppings and stuff.

  18. 6 miles with 2 little ones and one is a newborn, that is impressive. I can't find time to get 6 miles in with one.
We have a waffle maker and we don't use it much, but with kids, I think Hope will like it more as she gets a little older. I am more of a pancake fan though.
    Keep up the good work!!!
