Decent eating day
Do you do really well at salad bars or eating out with veggies? I do. But I did pretty good tonight.
I made D10 squash, mushrooms & chickpeas. I also had spinach frittata for lunch. And a berry smoothie with that. Fruits and veggies were decent ! Still, I'm high in carbs and fat, I think. But the calories were about the same, so I'm going with it.
Fitday is really very cool, and if you click on the tab on the piechart screen next to the chart, it says nutrition, it takes you to a list of all of the vitamins and what you are deficient in - in red.
I've used it often when I'm trying to lose weight and count everything. Now, I don't even know what I'm doing, so I'm just playing along.

Making your own nutters
Great veggie dinner ideas! Thanks for posting pics...you are inspiring me to have some vegetarian meals a couple of days a week.
ReplyDeleteYum! Love the meals and the photos. Thanks for all the great ideas! Keep up the good work. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for veggies! :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out Beth Shutt's blog... she's an awesome triathlete, also from PA... and is a dietician who works with athletes. She blogged today about nutrition issues and gives an idea for power breakfast. :) The link to her blog is on my side bar as The Trial of Miles, or copy and paste the url below.

You're food intake looks really good today! As far as fat and protein goes you're values are right on. Your fat intake will be a little high from the nuts but no worries, you need the protein from them. The only thing I would say is to make sure your getting enough calcium (more milk, yogurt, cheese) and iron (having something with Vit C at the same time will help you absorb iron better, ie. iron fortified orange juice), especially while breastfeeding (if you still are?). Other than that, you're eating better than most! (including me!!) Also, make sure you're drinking enough water. I love all of your recipes too! Thanks for the comments on our blog :-)
ReplyDeleteJust read a few of your other posts. I agree with the comment about your iron status. If you haven't already, you can ask your doctor to check your iron levels, not just hemoglobin/hematocrit. Some insurance won't cover it but your doctor can have them check your ferritin (iron storage) and transferrin saturation (good indicator if your moving towards anemia). Hemoglobin/hematocrit, which they usually check, are only low after you're anemic, the others can help to see if your stores are low, and can be contributing to your tiredness. Just an idea...
ReplyDeleteOther than that, you're a new mom and breastfeeding, those in and of themselves will make you tired :-)
Sorry, one more thing, I wouldn't go much lower on your calories, sometimes not eating enough will cause you to become slugish and retain weight. Don't worry about your weight though, feeding your baby and nourishing your body is \WAY more important than losing weight :-)
You did get lots of veggies in. Your intake looks really good. Glad you enjoy the zucchini!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I go to your blog and see the picture of Nick it makes me smile!
So I got a food processor, but nothing insanely fancy. Do you need a real fancy one to make the nut butters? And do I HAVE to add oils. Will processing away forever eventually turn them creamy?
ReplyDeleteGreat article, I ALWAYS forget my camera!
ReplyDeleteYour eating looks really balanced - great job! And I, too, really love hitting your site to see the cute pic of Nick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder for SD packing and the fun article, I am excited and stressed at the same time! Traveling for a race always adds another element of anticipation! Great job on the food, and hope you can get some good runs in this weekend! :)
I am so impressed by your healthy diet. My diet is so "unbalanced." You have inspired me to try and eat more veggies.
