Birthday week;Lightweight;Rest

I like to celebrate birthdays and plan the themes. I start planning it out about 2 months in advance... but the theme maybe 3-4 months before the birthday.  Happy Birthday week to my little guy who turns 2 on Sunday! I can't believe it. For this week, I have a list of things to finish up for our train party on Saturday. It pretty much stinks that I'm feeling like junk.. but hopefully taking some rest and immunity drinks w/ Vitamin D, Zinc and Vitamin C + smoothies will help me recover quickly! This past weekend we celebrated Nick's birthday with family. Nick had a BLAST! Here is a mini "train car" that I made for him to blow out and Nick in his "2" shirt. I love it!

For next weekend's party, I made Angela's pb graham crackers. They turned out great! They will be a party favor in the kid's favor bucket.

Probably as a result of eating soup and crackers and fruits and veggies for the past couple of days, I've lost a couple of lbs and am officially back to lightweight status! Lightweight for college rowing... haha. It's been 3 years!!!!! since I've seen below 130 on the scale.  Hopefully I can keep that around.

I'm taking getting sick as a sign that I need to rest. I'm not going to try to swim and run through it - I think that will just prolong getting better.   It's kind of amazing how stress-less a day is when you have zero goals and sleep in.  But geez - I just love the feeling that I get after a good workout! I couldn't do this if I didn't feel totally run down.  I almost just gave nick this "cake" for lunch because I didn't care...but then he agreed to eat his soup.  Since this is the second time in just 2 months that this has happened, I know that I need to change my habits. I guess my plan is to sleep more when I'm better and get to bed earlier and try not to stress about dumb things.  Thank you to all the mamas & non-moms for encouragement and the "you're not alone" support! :) I really appreciate it.

  1. hang in there! Being sick is no fun especially with two littles to care for. Sleep/rest will really help.

  5. Love the little trains! I'm sure your body will thank you for all the good food, nutritional supplements and rest you are giving it this week. Evidently it already has if you've lost some weight! You must be like me, I can't loose weight if I'm not getting enough sleep.

  6. A friend of mine said the other day, that sometimes being sick gives us a 'time out' that we wouldn't normally get - and often that can be a recharge (even if you do have kids!). You're putting a positive spin on it and I can tell it's paying off - yeah!!! Nick and Kara are so luck to have a mama who loves to celebrate birthdays and has a creative flair for it!
