BOB love and CLIF

My BOB revolution dualie came yesterday - I put it together last night and tried it out this afternoon! Ok, I didn't go outside with elmo in the second seat, but I did feel pretty awkward going outside in my little island neighborhood with the dualie. We don't talk to too many of the neighbors so I was praying no one was outside.  No weird comments, and I was in HEAVEN. My single is the ironman - aka non swivel wheel. Holy crap, I have been missing out! This thing was amazing. I LOVE it.  So glad I got it. Now you revolution folks - do you ever lock the swivel? I can't see myself ever locking it.  Freedom to move, to turn! Amazing.

Clif!
As you can see here, I've had quite a clif thing going on lately.  I know bars aren't the #1 healthy food, but to have them in the car and my purse when I'm in a hunch and starving has been nice. It helps me to avoid making a bad decision out of starvation.

First, Brian who represents Clif sent me the mini clif bars in new flavors - oatmeal raisin walnut, chocolate brownie and pb chocolate.  Then, whole foods was having a buy one get one sale, so I bought 4 boxes of different things (Clif Z bar - chocolate chip, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Chocolate Brownie, & Luna Cookies and Cream).  A week or so later, a little care package arrived from Brian with Bloks, Roks, Builder's Bars, and Clif Bars - Cool Mint Chocolate Flavor and Black Cherry Almond. I want to tell you about my favorites.

My favorite of all Clif products are the Z bars in chocolate chip. They are organic and taste like cookie bars and they aren't too heavy for pre-run, and make a great dessert alternate.

My next favorite is probably Luna Bars because of the protein content.  I think Cookies and Cream is my #1 flavor.

Next up - Builder's Protein Bar - 20g protein and tastes like a healthy candy bar. I really liked the chocolate flavor. I've had cookies and cream and I'm a big fan of that one too. I haven't tried the vanilla almond one yet.

Clif Bars - favorite flavors - Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, PB Chocolate, Chocolate Brownie. I'll eat a mini or part of a big one pre-run, post-run or when I'm out somewhere and starving and need a little something to tide me over.   I keep them in my car, diaper bag, purse and at home.  They're great.  It is suggested to eat clif bars 1-3 hours before exercising - I can't eat too much too soon before I run or I get a cramp. A mini would be perfect for soon before the run :)

Roks - These remind me of Milk Duds but I find them too sweet with too crunchy of an outer shell. They are hard to get down for me, but have 20g of protein and are great for a post-run protein boost.

Bloks - these are up there with GU chews for a long run now.  I like the packaging and soft chewy taste.  They deliver energy quickly to keep you going!

What is your favorite Clif product?

Besides grabbing a luna or Z bar every now and then as a dessert, I've also been having a scoop peanut butter with a handful of melted chocolate chips melted atop quinoa, bulgar or another grain. Another healthy indulgence lately has been hummus +nutritional yeast + water as a sauce/dip for a sandwich or wrap. What are your healthy indulgences?

  3. One of my girlfriends and I have been trying to figure out what kind of jogging stroller is the best for serious running. It seems like so many are more for walking and the occasional mile or two jog. I've read reviews that say that the fixed wheel, big wheel version from baby jogger, which I think is similar to the ironman is great for long runs. But it seems like you disagree. Can you do a full comparison of the two for me? I doubt I'd be able to test drive different joggers for several miles (and I'd feel like an idiot running with an empty stroller). I'm really curious if the revolution is still more comfortable at 4 or 5 miles and up hills.

  5. The dualie sounds so neat! Without having a second baby in the stroller yet, does it feel much heavier than your single?

  6. It is nice to have the front wheel unlocked, but I have found a couple of times when I had it unlocked and hit a bump or crack in the sidewalk, the stroller went squirrley and I kinda lost control. So just be aware of that. Also, make sure you wear the wrist strap, especially if you have the wheel unlocked.

  7. Congrats on the new stroller! I was thinking of you a few days ago after reading your post that you were going to buy one...I saw one at a consignment shop in awesome condition for $250...too bad I'm in Massachusetts! I have the revolution single and LOVE it. I almost always have the front wheel unlocked, but like the previous post mentioned, if you hit a big bump or pot hole, it can jolt the stroller a little.

  8. I have a wooden serving tray that lives atop the microwave that looks similar to your basket, tons of bars for grab and go'ness! I only eat a couple a week, but they are just soooooo handy to have around and exploring new flavors and brands is just too good!!!

I love Luna S'Mores bars and SimplyBar Cacao Coffee. BITS OF COFFEE BEANS make it a delicious source of protein and yum!

  11. Glad you love the BOB!

Healthy indulgence? I have been stuck on hummus wraps lately. Hummus, cucumber, low-fat feta, lettuce, shred carrots with raspberry dressing (just a little) Yummmy! I fact I think I have already talked about this yummy indulgence. Boy do I need some variety!

    Have a great weekend.

  12. Ha ha, that is hilarious - my buggy arrived yesterday and we did exactly the same thing - build it up, go for a wee test drive and take a photo to put on blog! Yours looks fab. We stayed with the fixed wheel as we will use it so much on trails and the fixed wheel is so much better for that, but I can imagine being able to change direction easily when you have 2 in your buggy would be a huge bonus! Love Elmo by the way.

  13. I love taking a hard granola bar, some vanilla yogurt and topping it with fruit (and sometimes a little chocolate syrup) to make a parfait.

  14. I love my BOB too. I have the Ironman so it has a fixed wheel. I just got it with the birth of my 4th. I did have the InStep 10k (the one pictured in my blog on the side) which worked well, but I literally ran it until it died. I haven't taken the BOB out for any runs yet but its been out for quite a few walks... great, great stroller!

I love the Luna Bars, they're probably my favorite.

  18. That is awesome about the stroller! I wish I bought one a long time ago :( I have not tried the Clif products, but I think I will next time I go to the store. Have a great week!

  19. I'm a big CLIF fan as well. I'm not a fan of the gels, but I love their Bloks and bars. They're perfect for an on-the-go breakfast before a long run, or quick recovery food post-run.

  21. That's an awesome stroller! I had a cheapie from BJs, & the front wheel kept flying off on the run - scary.

Now I'm glad to be done with strollers, though I also miss those days :)

  22. I never lock the front wheel, and have never felt like it has negatively impacted any part of the run for me or for Norah. Personally, the pivoting front wheel was the big thing thats old the Revolution for me.

  23. What a lovely basket of Clif products! I recently discovered the Shot Bloks and really love them - I call them "Athlete's Candy" - they work great at giving me energy for my running!
