GAh! It's so easy to go for a run! All you need are sneakers and a decent pair of shorts and t-shirt.
I was so excited/anxious for our first teacher day today and having nightmares about daycare, that I hardly slept. I had set the alarm for 5am to go on the treadmill, but after reading Beachrunner's comment before bed, I was thinking I could do it - the non-running this week, or at least most of it. I woke up at 4am and contemplated what to do, turned off the alarm and figured I could walk on the treadmill but get up at 5:30. I ended up tossing and turning in bed and getting up at 5:40 and doing kickboxing for 1/2 hour (a video). Tonight, we are going to the Phillies game and I have some extra time after school, and it is so easy to just go for a run!!! I heard our school got some new cardio equipment and I could attempt that if I can find it and find out if it is usable. I'm trying here! But I already have a long run slated in my mind and schedule for Friday, since it is the last day that I have a full day to myself. I was hoping to not run until then.
Last, a problem is that I walked on the treadmill for about a minute and even that irritates my knee. I feel like everything that I am doing is going to irritate it (even yoga was hard) - so why not just run through it??
or maybe you should just take a week of COMPLETE rest and make the knee feel all better!! i know its hard but it might be best?? then you wont have the pain anymore. i know its harder to do than to say but it might be the way to go :)
ReplyDeleteNice work (i.e. rest) keep it up. Go Mets!! ;)
ReplyDeleteHey! I got my nike plus working & i love it! Thanks for your help on Friday too! I'm just now trying to figure out how to add my profile to my blog... any tips??
ReplyDelete4am?!? Girl are you on crack? :P I kid!
ReplyDeleteRest, rest, rest. Sounds like that will be the best thing for your knee. Enjoy your last few days you have all to yourself.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that running through a knee injury ever makes it better... think *long term* and about how you want your runs to be productive and feel good. That won't happen as long as you're injured. But here's my plug again for water running... seriously, it's awesome! :) Not as easy as throwing on some shoes and a sports bra, but easy enough if you have access to a pool...
ReplyDeleteI know what you are thinking. Stop it! Rest, I said. Go read a book about running.
ReplyDeleteYou are funny! Most people would think about how easy it is NOT to run. It's easy to sleep in, easy to relax. You truly must be an endorphine junkie! I think any excercise you on feet will hurt your knee for now. Can you keep up the swimming at least? Yoga? Rowing? :) I hope you are not worried about resting while pregnant and getting "fat." I think you will make healthy choices so don't worry about that please. For taking time off of work, I never thought I'd want to be a stay at home mommy because I love my job so much. You will be surprised when your baby comes. I had my oldest in March so I just took the rest of the year off. Even after being home with him for 5 months, I bawled the 1st week going back to work. DOn't feel guilty. You will feel more guilty leaving behind a 6 week old baby. Every mama that I know that only took 6 weeks vowed to NEVER do it again. It's really hard. If you can afford to do it, take as much time off as possible. Try to save all of your sick days to make up some of the money. And I hope your hubby is taking off a week or 2 at first to help. You'll need it!
ReplyDeleteI do the early morning toss and turn routine too. I wake up to the alarm and decide the pros and cons of getting my butt up. At least you got up and did some exercise, good for you!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the knee is hurting. Hope it starts to feel better real soon.
I am going back to work tomorrow, I am sure that I will dream about it tonight!
ReplyDeleteRest it sometime that running through is not for things like knee pain. I hope you make the right choice for you to keep that knee healty and outta of rehab.
ReplyDelete4AM is the middle o the night
