I think today's the day??
I started having contractions last night around 9. They've become as close as 10 minutes but as far as 15 minutes. They don't seem to be progressing (they are more intense but not any closer together ) and I just feel like I am sitting around waiting! I probably slept 2 hours tops last night and really wish I took a nap yesterday. With Nick, it took 27 hours from when I started having contractions (the very start) to when he was born. How long will it take this time? 27 hours would be midnight tonight. And I already want an epidural. Don't they have over the counter epidurals you can get and feel nothing?
Here's how I would describe what contractions feel like - an inner tube around your hips/stomach that is piercing and stabbing you all around back to front. How would you describe them?
Around 1am I was starving and ate toast. 3 am I had 2 clif Z bars and for breakfast I could really go for some pizza. When I called the doctor to ask when I go to the hospital the 2nd time around, he said when contractions are 5 min apart - I thought that is when you go the first time around. When did you go? My water didn't break last time or this time, otherwise I'd be going to the hospital already.
So exciting! Good luck today!
ReplyDeleteeeek!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had back labour and I would describe it as a chainsaw in my lower back. Nothing in front. My contractions never were the exact numbers my midwife said they sould be, so my hubby was reluctant to go to the hospital, but I insisted. What kind of guy ignores when his labouring wife says HOSPITAL NOW!!!!!!!!? When we finally got there, I was dilated to a 9. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting - good luck! I'll be thinking about you today!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Wishing you a smooth and quick delivery!

ReplyDeleteWhen you can't talk in more than one word sentences (or blog :) consistently 5 min apart contractions ,but 3 is better, and you don't care if anyone sees you naked then head to the hospie.
Loss of modesty is a pretty big sign.
Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck!! Hopefully it will be over soon!!!

ReplyDeleteyay I'm excited for you! Well I went back and forth between 10 min and 4 min contractions for 3 days. I think everyone is different. Hope today is the day for you.
ReplyDeleteI was told to have 4 to 5 min contractions for a couple of hours. I did that and I was barely a 2 when I got to the hospital :-(

ReplyDeleteI was induced so I've got no answers to your questions but - GOOD LUCK!
ReplyDeleteGood luck hun! Stabbing pains are a little bit too familiar for me at mo'. I thought it would be throughout my tum but it was low down like you say. I went to 3 min apart after about 5 hours and stayed there with ever increasing intensity throughout! mine wasn't a great example though! Hope you get your epidural soon. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteKaz.

ReplyDeleteAnd I had ALL back labor, so it felt like someone stabbing me in the spine with a screw driver. Really sucked.

ReplyDeletesending good luck baby vibes your way! i hope its the day!!!! fingers crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to the hospital when I could feel the baby's head with my middle finger all the way in (doula's suggestion - I would NOT have thought to / wanted to do this on my own). Arrived at hospital ~30 min later at 7cm (where I of course plateaued for several hours but that's another story). I think the c(x)s were 3 min apart, and my water had broken 5 hrs earlier. I can totally relate to wanting to know how long it will take - I HATE surprises, especially painful ones!! I cannot remember how I would best describe contractions - I think I've blocked it, and simply have a big sign over it in my memory that says "RESPECT THIS. IT HURT LIKE HELL."
