still here

I thought last night when I was laying there that by say noon today there would be a baby. Imagine my dismay that I'm still not having strong enough contractions that I can't talk through. I'm 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced but the doctor said the contractions could just stop.  They are 5 minutes apart but not strong enough or long enough - I just squat or bounce and it goes away in about 30 seconds. Was the doctor  telling me it might stop for absolute worst possible scenario??  Ahhh contractions get worse! Baby let's move!!!  I feel like I'm in fake labor now and I'm just waiting around. It 's horrible!

On a thankful note - your descriptions of labor - chain saw was my favorite - CRACKED ME UP!
Thank you!

Any tips to get things moving quicker, let me know! Was thinking of running?  Standing up for a while? What to do.

  1. I feel ya! Both my kiddos were quite "late" to the party...one 8 days and one 5 days. It's so frustrating. There's some kind of tea you can drink--one of the cohosh teas, I believe, that's supposed to help move things along. Pretty sure I tried it, though, to no avail!

  3. I'm sorry, that's what I did with Ethan!! 10 min contractions for 3 days :-( My doctor told me to have lots of sex (umm, no thank you!!) and walk. Well, in the middle of August it was way too hot so I walked as fast as I could on the treadmill and walked the stairs in our house (we lived in a 2 story at the time). It helped a little, but only for the time I was doing the activities. You could try running and see what it does. Other than that I'd say try to relax and rest as much as possible, it may be a few days before you go into real labor. I'm sorry, I know what this is like!!!

  4. have lots and lots of sex. Seriously. We did it 3 times to get labor started with my 4th son. Maybe go for a bit of a run. Have someone go with you of course!

  10. Did you ever see that episode of Friends when Rachel had her baby (um, and yes, you can tell I don't have any kids yet b/c I am giving you advice via a TV show . . but anyway . . . )? Apparently, spicy food is helpful, taking a walk, drinking tea, and as everyone else pointed out, sex. So, overall probably not too helpful - but hopefully it will be sooner than you think!

  11. Well, I tried almost EVERYTHING with mine and I'm not sure any of it really worked. I'd say the "easiest" are walks/runs and sex :-). Hopefully it's sooner rather than later! Still exciting none the less!

Before you head to the hospital could you recommend a belly band? I'm not running a whole lot but I know it'd be more comfortable if I had a belly band on and I know you have one so I thought I'd see if you have a brand you like best.

Good luck with everything and can't wait to see if it's a boy or a girl!!!

  12. TOtally go for a run. Or a walk. I walked like a maniac the few days before I delivered my first son.

  13. I'd try running if I were you! If it doesn't work, at least you'll feel refreshed from working out. It'll bet it's here before you can write another post :-)

  15. Poor you!

It is all still so raw, I'm really feeling your frustration!

I'd like to say though - who is able to have sex at that stage? I lost count of the times it was suggested to me, but really, how? Just turning over in bed was a mammoth effort!!!!!

    Fingers crossed for you hun!

    Kaz.
