Recovery & Clif Bars (Giveaway)

On Saturday after that long run, I was passed out by 8:30 and slept until 7am. That whole day I was totally shot - useless. On Sunday my legs hurt like I had ran a marathon on Saturday. It was a bad scene! My hamstrings are actually still sore from Saturday's run. I don't know why?! I feel like they are weak and whenever I do lunges, they hurt for days. I'm not sure how to strengthen those babies!  I'm planning to run 20 on Saturday and play it by ear. I am using Milky Ways as my fuel for this one and seeing how that works but my concern is how to carry them and being messy. Tips on that? Maybe I will freeze them and shove them in a pocket or fuel belt?  We'll see how it goes! I was also wondering if compression shorts would help my legs - does anyone have a recommendation for them?

We sold our house and we're moving in less than 3 weeks! They wanted a quick settlement and we just got through the inspection and appraisal. We'll have to rent until we find our future house for now which I'm totally bummed about, but so happy we sold and can move on. That process was extremely stressful!

I have some seasonal flavors of the CLIF bars to giveaway - to enter, leave a comment with your favorite Clif product!  I'll pick a winner randomly on Friday, October 7th.

  2. Oops, sorry about the unfinished comment! What I meant to say is: love your blog, love Clif bars, especially the Mojo series, Peanut Toffee Buzz, and the seasonal pumpkin/gingerbread ones. You officially became my running inspiration when you ran Boston 10 wks postpartum :)

  3. Hooray for selling the house so fast!!! I honestly haven't tried Clif bars yet. Someone (pointing to my husband) eats things like that before I ever get a chance to have one myself!

  4. Awesome news on selling your house. And I agree that selling a house, especially when you are home full time with kids, is crazy stressful.

  5. My long run days are almost entirely useless. I try to plan to have a lazy day afterwards. No suggestions on how to keep those Milky Ways cold while running, but I supposed freezing would help for a while.
Favorite Clif Bars are brownie and peanut butter...delicious!

  16. Honestly, I havent had good luck with the Clif bars. I've only tried a few but found them lacking in flavor and a bit chalky. I'm willing to try again though ;)

  17. Congrats on selling your house! We rented for a time after selling our first home earlier this year - and while I wasn't too keen on it at first, it actually turned out to be a nice transition period. After the stress of appraisals, inspections, last minute repairs, etc., I found I was quite happy to live in a place where I wasn't responsible for stuff that went wrong (gotta love passing it on to the landlord!). Of course, our situation was a little different because our stuff stayed in storage, so we didn't have to unpack twice, but still. I think it might be a nice reprieve for you. Enjoy the new adventure!
