Movement

Went swimming today, it felt good. So glad to have started up with that again. It started pouring towards the end and was so refreshing & fun!! Right at the end it thundered, in perfect time, I was trying to make every minute count as the sky got darker!

I'm going to try running again tomorrow, but here's the latest update on the knee - I'm feeling it more on the inner part instead of behind my knee (although that is still there). I felt like I was strengthening when I was kicking only at the end of the swim. I also read somewhere that left ankle instability could lead to right knee problems. Weird right? So I'm trying to figure out what is going on - it will be a week tomorrow! I'm not a doctor person, and really trying to do my partial RICE treatment to make it better. Reading all the marathon stories really is inspiring. I want it!!

Nothing exciting to report today! Stay tuned for excitement later this week!

  1. Nice job on the swim. I think your knee pain is "runner's knee" (or chondromalacia of the patella). It could also be an IT band issue, but I think it is the former. Read these links for more info and treatments:

  5. swimming outside sounds fun!! i don't like the indoor pool (excuse #423 why i don't go swimming much...). as long as you're doing SOMETHING you're not losing fitness, so don't freak out!

  6. What the F is a popliteus? LOL.
Holy S! Marcy is a genius. I take back my advice, a strained popliteus looks like the culprit to me now. LOL. Am I a quack freak non-doctor or what? Whatever it is, RICE is the best advice possible (*sigh* Marcy is right again).

  7. I'd listen to beachrunner, he seems to really be researching the problem. That is if you count Marcy doing all the work.

Nice swim, have you tried running in the pool at all? I hear that helps quite a bit when you're dealing with pain.

  10. Your knee pain is something very much like what I am feeling. Although I am not a distance runner by any means, having only started in January, my knee pain seems to be common. I love this blogging thing where I can get inspired by other people's running successes and challenges, AND get advice on how to treat injuries! Awesome blog! I'll be back, and good luck with your knee.
