32 weeks : Pressure

Here we are at 32 weeks. I would describe this week as pressure - lots of lower pressure! Running this week was basically not comfortable and stop and go. Since I am running on a treadmill, sometimes it seems futile - I am stopping then going back to it after a 30 second break, etc. I might add more swimming to the routine, maybe some biking, but on the stationary bike, or I'll break out my mountain bike? I wonder if that would be comfortable, or not so much.  The lower pressure - sometimes I have twinges - is that Braxton Hicks? I go to the doctor at the end of the upcoming week.

This is a comparison photo  - 32 weeks w/ Nick:  ha, was I lucky with Nick or what?!

This past week, sleeping was so much better! I have been getting up sometimes one time in the night to go to the bathroom but that is not every night - totally weird, I remember getting up a lot of times w/ Nick and definitely every night.  Heartburn and breathing problems are definitely daily and with the heat (Nick was born in the winter) I am tired out easily and cranky!

Foods I've been eating alot of - hummus +nutritional yeast, bread & butter, ice cream, milk

  1. Man, you were barely showing with Nick ;) Is your weight gain similar? I think its pretty common to look "more pregnant" with second pregnancies ... hopefully that doesnt come hand and hand with "feeling" "more pregnant". Its not how you look but how you feel that makes or breaks it during pregnancy ;)

  2. Be careful with the pressure. If it is related to activity, rest. The pressure could be contractions. I went in to labor at 33 weeks with my 5th and most of my contractions were pressure as opposed to pain. I am glad to hear that you are going to the Dr, definitely talk to him/her about the pressure you are experiencing. You look AMAZING!

  3. You look great! (I love that shirt too.) I've been having braxton hicks for months, and they are strange/scary when they first happen.

It's like your uterus gets rock hard and shrink-wrapped around the baby. There's a start and stop to them too. My doctor told me if I have more than 4/hr to call, but I believe the normal rule is 6/hr. Hopefully your doctor will ease your concerns.

  4. I would think a stationery bike would be better for you but I'm not sure. I would just think less movement and less pressure on sensitive areas that are needed to be not so sensitive during birth. But I have no clue.

You look great, but heck you looked great the first time around. I hope when/if I get pregnant again I will look that great (although I'd have to be that small pre-pregnancy...not there LOL)

  5. You had a tiny bump with Nick! Your bump this time round is tiny too compared to mine - I know exactly what you mean about that pressure - I think the more your bump sticks out the harder your tummy muscles have to work and less support of baby there is, so take care. It is quite nice to do other activities, but I don't think outdoor biking is recommended later in pregnancy due to balance issues. I like the x-trainer if you can get access to one - like running, but no impact + of course swimming.
I'm a bit scared at the thought of showing more in later pregnancies - seriously my bump is huge this time round! Ha Ha!
    Take care,
    Kaz.

  7. ok, i finally see a difference between belly #1 and #2! for me BH contractions were more than just pressure, and when i put my hands on my belly it was noticeably different than when i wasn't having one.

  8. Wow, your uterus sure got the "oh, I remember this" memo and let go! It's fun to see the comparison pics - you are getting so close to meeting the new little one, how exciting!!!

  9. You have the tiniest cutest baby bump! 32 weeks was when running got the best of me and I swithed to walking. I definitely don't envy you having to be pregnant through the summer. I hope you have a nice, smooth last couple of months.

  14. Isn't it normal for the second one to be slightly bigger (and I mean slightly - you're not that different from Nick in the pics!). Amazing that you're still running! :)

  15. I'm not sure what to tell you about the pressure- I had horrible low back pain starting from 4 months on. I didn't have BH starting until around 1 week before delivery, but I wouldn't describe them as pressure- just tightened belly.

I have a question for you. I was going to do a 5k this weekend. This will be my first one since being pregnant (almost 2 years now lol). However I am not a warm weather runner- just don't like it. The low is supposed to be 74 and high 96. The race doesn't start until 8:15 so I know it's going to be so hot. I'm trying not to be negative, but it's going to be difficult to PR when it's that hot! Should I go ahead and do it just to do it and get it over with or should I keep working on my pace/time and wait until September (I like doing the race for the cure race then) to do my first 5k?

  18. You look awesome!
Just keep doing whatever you feel comfortable with. I felt a lot of pressure toward the end too, and the doctor said it was because the baby had dropped so low. She just said to for sure stop if I felt contractions. I didn't have a mileage goal at the end because I was afraid I'd push it too hard to meet my goals.
The stationary bike is a great idea. If you feel uncomfortable after a while, you can always stand or 'hover' over the handle bars.
32 weeks - you're on the home stretch! How exciting!

  19. You look fantastic! You don't even look that big for being 32 weeks. And I just can't get over how tiny you were with Nick.
