Ringing in 2011

by getting destroyed on a hill workout this morning
No one said HARD. They just said HILL. I did basically a tempo run with a friend from swimming on Sunday at 8:38ish- a pace faster than I've been running in a long time. Then I get whooped 2 days later.  I show up to this hill after warming up indoors (KEY!)  and got destroyed!  We all have to start somewhere. I haven't worked HARD since spring '08 so here's to a hard working 2011 and getting my butt back in shape. I did about 2 miles warmup, 1.5 inside and then we ran up a hill 8 times and the downhill was recovery. Awesome workout! The total mileage was 6.5 miles and then I did another 1.5 at home to cooldown and stretch. It was a nice sized hill. I'll go back for sure!  I am LOVING the Garmin to track my mileage and pace. Love it. Thank you Bill!

by bringing back the mean green smoothies
Had one of these yesterday and it was a great start to the day. Inspired by Angela's flu buster. Nick sucked his down. It was too thick so he used a straw.
  • 1.5 large ripe banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen
  • 3 Clementines, peeled and broken into segments
  • 1 c milk (I used 1/2 c almond and 1/2 c skim milk)
  • 1/4 tsp lemon extract (optional)
  • handful of fresh kale leaves

It's down and out! Niceeee. Earliest I've done that but it seems like alot of you did the same thing!  I have my space back from all of the new toys we have now.

and by planning Nick's birthday
I need projects so this is my project. Train theme.  I ordered him the shirt most of you liked better with just the number on it. I think it's going to be cute.  The invites are out (etsy!), and I have a bunch of ideas I need to get moving on. I can't believe he'll be two (Feb 6).  It's insane.

  8. I loved planning my son's birthday parties - I got a lot of ideas from the Penny Whistle Party Planner books, and years later I would still hear from their friends about how much fun they were. Love Nick's invites - what a fun theme!

  9. awww, I love the train theme for his second birthday. of course that's what we did too so I'm biased hehe

That is another thing I AM going to get back with the green smoothies! I'm still working on my canister from TT that I love. Need to see if I can get Ethan to drink it too. He's had no problems drinking the ones I made from scratch though and this one is much sweeter so there shouldn't be a problem. Makes you feel good when you can get your toddler drink a green smoothie doesn't it?? :-)
