High Heel Marathon

After that pizza yesterday, I didn't feel the greatest. I think my craving has passed for a few days!
Sorry to those who I made want pizza, hehe. So I'm gearing up both physically and mentally for next week's IL (in law) trip. I am hoping my parents and his parents will counteract each other and they will forget we are there. Is this what the future looks like? Why did I not plan to take a course during this upcoming week? I'm kicking myself in many ways. One thing I am looking forward to is cooler less humid air - not only will it be great to run, but it will be a great way to get out of the house.

Today I ran a somewhat crappy 7 miles on the treadmill while watching the Kelly Ripa high heel marathon - anyone see that? It was pretty funny, in Central Park about 500 people running 1500 yards in at least 3 inch heels to win $25,000 ! A lot of money for a short run!! These ladies are FLYING people! Looked like fun, but would I do it? I don't think so! I would have probably been an injured casualty.

Tomorrow my plan is to go for an 11 mile run in the am, we'll see. Does anyone know of a website where you can find a gym when you are on vacation or something like that? Or look for running routes?

  1. i always use www.mapmyrun.com to find runs... you can either create to map it our or you can click find and enter the city where you will be.

a couple months ago i might have been able to participate in the high heel challenge :) but these days i am sticking to flats after a lot of foot pain. i did a whole post on shoes/heels last month sometime :)

  2. I looked around for a national gym registry website when we started planning our trip, and this is what I came up with - http://gymticket.com/. I wish you could do a specific search for things like pools, but overall it seems pretty good.

I'm also a fan of the us track and field site (http://www.usatf.org/routes/). Even when I'm not familiar with the neighborhood, I'll type in an address and map out a route before I go. It's worked okay so far. I'm going to try it for a 12-miler on Friday, so I'll let you know how it goes.

  3. I was going to suggest the same thing as Aron. Or maybe finding a local running club in that area. Sometimes they have routes up on their sites :-)

OMG that marathon is nuts. It was funny to hear the clicking of the heels as they ran down HAHA.

I'm plugging away on that push up challenge. W1D3 is next! LOL

  4. That high heel run is awesome! I would have loved to watch it in person...not enter it though, or I would have been hauled off by EMTs for a broken ankle. Good luck with the 11 mile run.

  5. I could run in 3+" heels-- problem is, I don't run fast enough to win in flats and it's just not that tempting without the chance of $25000.
