Wanted: Running Partner

Back to the grind. I'm sitting here thinking where I am going to run today. I don't think that I can do the treadmill. I succumbed to it yesterday and I don't know if I can do it again. I wish I had someone to run with 24/7 and we could go run at different places for each run, in my dream world. It makes so much of a difference and I can't stand my recent lack of motivation (the past month or maybe 2). I want to move just so that I can more easily walk out the door and run, I really like up and backs and would love a place with a straight long street that goes on for miles and miles with a sidewalk that I could turn around anytime and run back. Do you do the same route when you run? How do you switch it up? Do you drive somewhere to run or leave from your house? Have a good Monday!

  1. I am so with you on having a running pard. They would have to run at my pace and we would have to have to be able talk some with me. I am thinking in a few years we can move back to The Woodlands with the trails in my backyard basically.

  2. I was that way after my second half, got really burned out and was constantly running the same routes. That’s why I joined the Galloway group. Every Saturday is a different distance run, but usually at the same place… though from time to time the director does switch it up. There I was able to meet different folks all training for marathons and now once a week there’s a small group that will meet for different runs. Being able to run with others that are in the same boat is great. Try going by some of the local running stores in your area, I know the ones around here have groups that leave the store for nightly runs, you’ll have to drive to the store and then drive home but the company might be beneficial. Good luck!

  3. i usually run by myself and my couple running friends i have run at a different pace than i do, so i like to go on my own. plus its my alone time. sometimes i leave right out my front door (usually morning runs) but in the afternoon i usually change at work and drive somewhere to go running. my fav places i have to drive to. it does get boring if you run the same thing over and over, but anything beats the treadmill :) have you thought about joining a running group?

  4. Ooohhhh girl I hear you! I've been delaying looking for peeps to run with :P It's just hard with a SAHM schedule and a husband who travels a lot :-/ But at the same time . . like Aron said, I do cherish my "silent" time. I know that my day is going to be filled with kids screaming so I like being alone too. Someone needs to invent a robot runner or something :P Talk if I want it to talk, run what pace I want, and available whenever I want it LOL

  5. I hear you on the run buddy and the need to keep things fresh and fun, but I also am with Marcy on this one too. I like the alone time. Also I would think it's really hard to find that perfect partner who shares your schedule, runs at just the right pace, and who is fun to talk with (but doesn't talk too much). If you find that perfect bud - grab him/her!!

  6. Check out www.nikeplus.com or just google it. It's a really cool device that connects to your ipod and helps keep track of all your runs. Once you log in there are different options of things you can put on your myspace page or blog so that others can see how you’re doing. The ND logo is just cause I’m an Irish fan.

That’s something else that might get you a bit more motivated, you can sign up for different challenges. I’d recommend it for any and all runners.

  7. Every once and a while I like to run with someone, but in all honesty it is easier to run alone. I can leave when I want, no driving anywhere, run at the pace I want and not talk if I don't want to! I usually run the same routes. I'll mix things up by running hill repeats or speedwork.

Is there a running group in the area you can join?

  8. I feel really lucky that I can just open my door and run on the boardwalk. I never switch it up though, which is bad. Plus, on the weekends (Summer only), I can't drive anywhere or I lose my parking space.
