The anti pregger strikes again

I spend frustrating time in the morning trying to find clothes I can wear. My pants still fit me, but are becoming uncomfortable. My shirts are hard to button across my chest because my once flat chest now looks like I had an operation. I am not used to this. So I spend time in the morning and get frustrated. My yoga outfits look like I ate too much and let myself go. I decided to go look for some clothes after work today. This did not go over well. I took one look at motherhood maternity and wanted to scream and/or cry. I had ordered a skirt online that was nasty when it came and returned it. I don't think I'll go back - ever! I went to TJMAXX to look for workout clothes and came out with one longer yoga top and then a nike running skirt, non maternity related. I'm not good at this!!! My mom told me to go get medium shirts instead so I have more room, so I'll avoid the maternity gear ALAP! (as long as possible!) I don't want to look like an oversized whale though, so must be aware!

Week 16 pic at left, that was a week and a half ago. I feel like since then it has grown ALOT!

In other blogger news, my husband created his own sports blog at http://thetransplantedfan.blogspot.com/ so all of you sports fans out there, check it out for some good sports knowledge.

Philly distance run T -5 days. Very excited since my running has started to be back to its usual pace after the knee issues. Good luck to all of the other Philly distance runners!

  2. I have no idea what it's like shopping for maternity clothes but... hang in there! It can't be that bad, right? Besides, you barely look pregnant! I saw your picture and thought you're too skinny for someone who's 17 weeks! There's nothing wrong with buying a larger size and not go to maternity route, either!

Like Aron said, you're amazing that you're still pursuing running! You go girl!!

  3. I agree with Aron and Julianne, your tummy is hardly there & your running crazy mileage! I've never shopped for maternity colthes but before you opt that way, just get bigger shirts. Your doing an amazing job with your running & i'm very jealous.. especially being pregnant! Like i said before, you rock!

  5. Ummmmm yeah I TOTALLY DID NOT look that thin at 17 weeks. YOu look fabulous! Just size up for now. With the rate your going I don't think you'll get passed a medium in nonpreg ladies sizes anyway ;-)

  6. Yeah girl, you still look pretty good to me. I know that probably doesn't mean much to you now, but it's true.

Hey, the link to my friends blog (the one who was pregnant and running and just had the baby) is on my page. It's the first blog link. her name is Jackie. She is an editor for a paper in South Dakota and she blogs on their site about running. She blogged pretty much the whole time she was preggo. If you want to read about another runner who recently was in your shoes, maybe it will help.

You're looking and doing great! You're going to have a blast this Sunday too!

  7. I remember my wife taking pictures of her belly and sizing it up in the mirror. She also had trouble finding/choosing clothes, but ended up missing the belly once it was gone (and other things that got bigger!).

  8. Quit your bitching, my stomach is bigger than that and I am only like 11 weeks :) No, I hear you. I agree, go get a bella band. I am already wearing one and it is so much more comfy. You just unbutton your pants and pull the band over it and it keeps it shut and it also kind of holds your tummy in, I love it. I have a white one a friend lent me, I am going to get a few more colors. It justs looks like a tank peeking out.

  9. You are at the time when it does just look like you've put on weight. But you know that you have NOT put on weight. Most women would love to have your belly now versus theirs. There are some CUTE maternity clothes out there. Cherish your belly! Have you had an ultrasound yet? You might feel differently when you see you have a human and not fat or an alien in there.

  10. i think you're in the worst part (so far...i can't speak to the last 10 weeks yet!). to anyone else you look totally normal but you think you're just fat...it sucks, not gonna lie! i love my bella band and the rubberband through the buttonhole worked for me until recently (26 weeks). i wore maternity jeans once but that's it (and they weren't that bad, they're not the scary kind with the big stretchy panel), though plain maternity tshirts (in like XS!) are much more comfy now than even large non-mat ones. i haven't had boob growth yet (for which i remain eternally grateful btw) so i can't help there but i will say that in terms of workout clothes, i ditched tops as they became tight, started getting mediums at races (at least the technical shirts), and everything got so much better once i decided i looked pregnant and not just fat. hopefully (?) that'll be soon for you. i'll put some new pictures up on my blog soon.

  11. Cute skirt.

You do have a very little tummy for that timeframe. But then again, I have never been pregnant so I wouldn't know.

And I'm not sure where to find maternity clothes :( Sorry.

  12. You still look thin and trim in that photo but I bet even a week or more changes you. Two of my friends recently had babies and it's amazing to see the transformation. Everything will be okay but I can only imagine the frustration with the clothes dilemma.

  13. I bet you're dying to look pregnant. The in-between bit is the worst.

I can sympathise on the shirt drama. My chest has gone from 30" to 35" (at 23 weeks). I've got quite a small frame so I look rediculous. At least I know how Barbie feels :-) If they get any bigger, I might need to run with a backpack to balance out the weight. I've put on 13lbs and I definitely know where most of the weight has gone :-) Te he.

Good luck for your race. Looking forward to reading about it.
